I have just purchased a replacement float valve for my loft water tank. Its 1/2”. The fitting on the pipework going into the tank is bigger than that. Does anyone know what size it could be? Im think maybe 3/4” or 22mm?

If this is for your CWSC you'll need a part II ball/float valve. Either get a 3/4" one or change the fitting on the tank supply to suit a 1/2".

the 3/4" one is likely to be less noisy, and to fill the tank faster. Better all round

however it will be more expensive.

you can buy a new cone and washer to renovate your old one, and hang it in a plastic bag next to the tank ready to swap next time it needs it.

I already have the new one, ready to fit, just need to know what fitting I need to get from 1/2” male on the valve, to 3/4” (I think) female from the mains
