Im about to start a project to get ready a fire place to have a 6KW log burner installed in a fire place, on the installation instructions it says I should have 200mm either side of the burner 50mm behind and 600mm in from to edge of fire Hearth but what im unsure of is the thickeness of the Hearth and what that should be.
I have a Hearth in the floor from the contruction of the 3 bedroom semi but what thickness above please?

At least 125mm unless the burner is certified not to heat downwards more than 100 degrees. Read the approved document J

Perhaps you are talking about a superimposed hearth (onto the constructional hearth) in which case the thickness could be almost anything so long as it is a non-combustable material, subject to the level of it complying with the regs.

Or in simpler terms, what's the hearth constructed off, and how high does the burner sit off of it. If it's a concrete hearth, then you can just tile it.
