Hi. I have had a 150mm deep concrete foundation installed for a log cabin. Only about 40mm of the concrete will be above ground level once the patio has been built around the cabin. The concrete had a damp proof membrane under it, but the sides are bare concrete.

Do I need to seal or protect the sides of the concrete foundation before laying the patio around it?

is it a concrete slab that will support the cabin and also form the floor that you will stand on inside the cabin - or is it a strip foundation that the cabin will stand on ?

Thanks, The slab just supports the cabin and its bearers. The cabin will have its own wood floor. I was worried about the concrete absorbing moisture from the ground trough the sides.
