Can you get 4 x 2 in lengths of 6+ metres?
I need 2 lengths a fraction over 6 metres and approximately 15 lengths 3 metres long.
It's for a shed base raised on small stilts because of a sloping ground level. The small stilts are 3" x 3" sunk into the ground approximately 12" deep on a bed of gravel and postcreted in place. The lowest section above ground will be 2"-3" and the tallest about 6" above ground.
Frame size is 6m x 3m of pressure treated 4" x 2" on edge then cross beams @400mm centres with staggered noggins to maintain rigidity.

What is the problem with using two pieces to get your 6 metres? When you go over about 5 metres it gets increasingly difficult to find stock in any cross section timber, especially given the current world shortages of materials

I suspected that may be the case.
    Thanks JobAndKnock.

Thanks Bernard. Problem is they are all around 100+ miles away. The delivery charge would probably be astronomical for the small load I would need.

Hi Bernard. Found a place locally that should be able to supply me with 3 metre lengths. I've plenty of scrap wood that I can use as joint pieces so will probably do it this way.

If it was just for one beam I may consider other alternatives but I'm building a base for a large shed and will need around 21/22 lengths of 3 metre plus noggins.

Fingers crossed, a local timber yard has promised to deliver me 11 lengths of pressure treated C24 6metre x 4" x 2" on Friday!
Apparently he gets it delivered as 6 metre and cuts it to 3 metre because nobody really asks for the longer length.
