Im currently renovating a house iv bought - first time

It is a 1911 mid terraced -

It has a large vent under the living room window - the vent is 270mm x 195mm

It was used as there is a gas fire in the living room and guess aiding ventilation.

the vent is damaged on both sides - iv removed the cover from the inside and its disgusting whats built up over the years.

It creates alot of draft and lots of dirt blows through - live on main road-

My question is -

Im having a combi boiler fitted and im going to fit an electric fire -

so can i brick this up both sides??????

If so finding hard find accrington bricks

combi boilers are room sealed normally so they draw air for combustion and exhaust products of combustion to the outside, electric fires do neither so brick it up, is it a cavity wall?, if so take care to maintain the cavity
Cheers
