i have 3 sockets in the garage on a seperate MCB .

Today the sockets stopped working ,checked that the MCB hadnt tripped, which it hadnt.

i checked if there was power running through the cable & nothing .

i traced the cable back to the consumer unit & moved it slightly and the power to the sockets came on.

Is this a faulty MCB or a connection thats become loose somehow , or something else ?

This is not a new install probably fitted 20 years ago.

Any info appreciated .

Could be.

I went out to a shower with an intermittent connection and the RCD was tripping.

The RCD was not seated on the busbar teeth!

If you decide to tighten it up MAKE sure the main switch is off

And also check all the other connections as you’ll almost certainly find some loose too

If there are loose connections in a consumer unit, it could well be that the live tails are loose too. Which may be an issue if there isn't an isolator.
