loose floorboards on top of pipes

Evening all, I lifted up the landing carpet tonight to investigate some loose floorboards that gave been bothering me for forever.

I found that 3 pieces of floorboard have no screws or nails in them.

Further investigation revealed that they are loose on top of some pipes. The plastic tee connections (sorry non technical term) are slightly little higher than the joists so I'm reluctant to screw them down, I'm also not comfortable with leaving as is. Can anyone suggest the best remedy please?

Its 1930s house with a system boiler. Do the pipes need moving or could I get away with a section of thinner floorboard and some packers on the joists so the board doesn't rest right on the pipes?

Could you make the notches in your joists just a little deeper so the pipes will move down a few mm?
Or you could notch out the underside of the board that's resting on them so it just clears them.
You should screw the boards down, but make sure you don't hit any pipes or cables!

Hi Reg, thanks for the suggestion, I managed to chisel out a bit of a channel and put a glazing packer on each joist. Its not the best but at least its not resting on The pipe and doesn't make noise. I think it may be time for new boards in he new year.
