I have fitted plantation shutters on two large windows at the front of the house. They look fine and, because the windows are large, they let in enough light- so a good choice.
The problem is that I chose a make that fits with 'no screws' and they're held in place by springy clips, top and bottom, which fit between the glass and the seal. This arrangement is not strong enough to cope with stresses of opening and closing turning the lock handle; they get looser and looser until the top clip doesn't hold in the rectangular hole in the shutter. There is no means of adjustment and the only change you cn make is to use different clips. Basically, I think the shutters are too heavy for the design.
Screws would make the system totally strong enough but the screw heads could look bad and it would leave visible holes in the sides of the window frame.
Tell me I should have bought a different design - fair enough. But does anyone on the forum have an experience of this sort of problem? I cannot think of a suitable blind fixing.
