Since replacing the standard aerial on my '10 reg. Seat Ibiza with a Richbrook aerial i have noticed the reception is very poor.Does anyone know if the aerials have a powered amp on them making the replacement one incompatable?

Some do, if you take your old antenna base apart you should be able to see. Alternativly check for voltage across the coax, between the inner and outer, if there are volts there the chances are that it should have an amp.

most of the modern vw/seat stuff does and its usually at the base of the aerial somewhere if it has one
