I locked an internal door which has an old lock and have lost the key. Most YouTube videos are for more modern locks. Is it possible to pick this myself? I’ve seen lots of different tools on line but any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you but I’m an 82 yo lady who loves doing her own repairs still, what is the lug and latch plate? I have a multi tool so part of the way there. I would love to do this myself if possible.

The lug is what goes in and out to lock door.
Latch plate is in the door frame. Small metal plate.
Lug locks in latch plate..

Other way is to remove the architrave.
Use multi tool to cut frame either side of latch plate. Door opens with frame chuck coming out.

I don't know a easy way you can do it. Locks are not easy to get by.

You maybe better hunting for key. Often locks come with three but I understand they go missing. Houses don't lose things as they say.

You might be better getting a lock smith to do it if you are really stuck.

Thank you so much for your advice, I’ll have a go and if all fails I’ll call Mark my trusted locksmith but I didn’t want to worry him at Christmas time. Thanks again have a great Christmas and New Year.
