Low Voltage Kitchen Lighting

Could someone recommend a definitive guide to use of low voltage lighting (in the kitchen)? I've seen lots of snippets and the Wickes leaflet is pretty good but it seems like a minefield and I want to get it right.

That said, could anyone recommend a good UK DIY electrics book - Collins or Which maybe? Amazon is stuffed full of US stuff and I don't know what is what. Is it also worth me getting the IEEE Regs book?

I have found the Which? book on electrics (exact detail not sure but has orange/brown cover) to be excellent and has provided me with surefooted guidance throughout the re-wire of my house.
