can i just check that what i am doing is correct.

I am fitting LV lights taken as a spur from a socket via a FCU with a 5amp fuse, (2.5M twin and earth) then from the FCU to a junction box via 1.5 MM T&E

from the junction box to a transformer via the transformer wire and also to the next set of LV lights via 1.5 T&E

All connectors are are concelled in Choc boxes.

cheers

Sounds fine. Just make sure the junction box is not concealed.

RCD protection? ;)

the whole kitchen is on an RCD but i will check before I cover all the wire - my main concern was the 1.5 mm was correct as I have consulted a number of books some say to use 1mm wire for lights and others 1.5 MM and 1.5 is what i have .

cheers for the response :D

I usually prefer to use 1.5mm as I find it goes into terminals better ;)
Obviously it depends on the fuse rating and derating factors etc.

Your lights are Extra-Low Voltage, not Low Voltage.

IEC voltage range (AC)

High voltage > 1000 V
Low voltage 50–1000 V
Extra-low voltage < 50 V

Correct in what respect?

Did you apply for Building Regulations approval?
