I intend to install a ring circuit in an extension with 2.5 T&E protected by 20A MCB. Is it ok to use the same circuit to provide power to the single light via a junction box and 1.0 or 1.5 T&E?

Firstly, no need for a ring.

Use 2.5mm² cable on a radial from a 20A MCB (exact design depending on distance involved).

From this circuit, use a Fused Connection unit to supply the lighting point, using 1.0mm² cable AFTER the FCU. It must be fused at 3 or 5 amps.

Thanks,

Is the distance you mention the full cable length of the circuit? If so how do you work out which type of MCB to use?
