I have bought some low voltage lights to put in a glass fronted kitchen cabinet. The wiring diagram shows the cable going to mains and then states *must be a spur.

Would you normally wire the cable into an existing socket? or would I put a plug on it and plug it into a socket? Why would it need to be a spur?

Cheers

I'd stick a spur in and put in a 5amp switch in a convenient place and wire the transformer to this, use 2.5 T&E from your ring main though. See comments to "wossie6" 2 messages above yours.

if you feel more comfortable with putting on a plug then that is fine, but make sure it has a 3 amp fuse.
