Hello all i have just joined, and would like to ask a question. I have just had an oso unvented hot water tank fitted, plus two rads and a rad valve replaced. my problem is i have a shower which starts at high pressure but then seems to tail off, is there a quick fix i can do, or should i get the installer back. the same thing happened when i moved in the house and the system was recommissioned, and the gas man seemed to sort this on the annual service. The boiler is an ideal classic that is ten years old. Thank you in advance.

Unlikely to be a quick fix when the dynamic pressure drops (working pressure).

Prior to installing an unvented cylinder the flow/and dynamic pressure should be checked, however this may prove sufficient at the time of testing only to find later that at certain times of the day pressure/flow rates are inadequate.

If the new pressure reducing valve supplied with the cylinder was used it is unlikely to be a blocked strainer but it should be checked.

Thank you ajstoneservices, the pressure reduction valve has been replaced, it is only three weeks old. Can you turn this valve up?. And if so is it clockwise or anticlockwise.

if you aint got the pressure there to start with theres no point in trying to increase it. imo you need to get the pressure and flow tested when it seems to be slow running. Could you see how many litres of water you get in your kitchen sink in a minute?

I think you need to explain the full details!

Cylinder "just" replaced means to me that it was done during the last few days!

Now you tell us the pressure reducing valve was replaced "three weeks ago".

When was the cylinder fitted?

Did it give problems from the start?

Why was the valve replaced?

Has the valve and the expansion vesel precharge pressure both been properly set to match the operating conditions?

The cylinders an OSO like the Megaflow has internal bubble.

still as you say more info needed.

The OSO can be bubble top or expansion vessel, they are sold with both options.

It sounds like the initial burst is the compressed air gap in the cylinder, after that it is on the water main and this doesn't seem to give enough for the poster. I have to say the chronology and his description is confusing to say the least.

You're right, but they are the same cylinder how many are fitted with an expansion vessel from new.
