We have started to build an extension on a sloping ground and it so happens that at some places the foundations are maybe 100mm below ground, the DPC being around 590mm above foundations (two courses of blocks and two courses of bricks). We plan to backfill those exposed areas later, but there is currently scaffolding in place that prevents access to a mini digger/bucket.
My question is, does it really matter that some of these underground blocks are actually above ground for the time being? Does the structural integrity of the wall depend on soil being around those blocks?
