It can really depend on the type of tires you have. Also the type of conditions you are driving in. Lowering your air pressure will increase the surface area of your tires, creating a larger area for your tires to gain traction; however, this can have a negative effect on the handling of your suv by impeding the ability that the tires have to move liquid out from under the tires.
