Hi there..

I am currently battling with the privet hedges in my back garden. They've always grown fast, but the height of them seems to have got a bit out of control.

I use a petrol hedge cutter which suits the sides, but I'm looking at ways of reducing the height from a current 8-9 foot to around 6 foot. The branches are thick and so I don't want to start hacking only to ruin the hedge cutter or the hedge.

The hedges are about 20 metres in length and don't particularly fancy lowering in with a saw but if needs be so be it. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions of other methods that may work please.

Many Thanks

Dougie

I'd thought of loppers, but thought it's going to take ages!!.. but I'm guessing there are no quick fixes right..??

Maybe a friendly local farmer who has the right type of equipment driven from his tractor PTO.
