hi guys ive got me engine back together after a skim and new timing chain
what im wondering is if the car is started it would be dry of oil until the pump pressurises the coolant system

do I start the car as normal
or do I crank it over by hand fro a number of rotations, if I do that would that pump oil or is the turn over to slow by hand and oil not circulate

thanks
terry

It's a reasonable idea Terry, to crank the engine over on the starter but with the ignition disabled......as soon as the oil lamp goes out, you're good to go.
It's also a good idea to fit a new oil filter, and to fill that full as well before fitting it - as is a good drench of oil over the cams.
Sounds like you've been busy!
John :)

Yeah been doing head gasket and timing chain out in the cold it's been a good learning curve thanks for your help
