Yet another thread about an extremely complex situation which the usual DIYNot idiots try to solve.

Palestine marginalized, maligned, mistreated. Fire rockets indiscriminately at Israel and want to wipe it out.

Israel, land grabbing oppressors of Palestine.

Solution? Who knows.
A problem created by western powers a long time ago, with no forethought to its consequences.

What was the Star Trek saying? We come in Peace, shoot to kill.

But on Earth isn't it 'We come in Gods name - Shoot to kill'?

I'm sure if we could get rid of religeon (and polotics) the world would be a safer, friendlier and happier place (except for a few relifous bigwigs).

Really?

They have the right to apply for citizenship, are entitled to municipal services and have municipal voting rights.

Municipal elections in Israel are elections in which the residents of the cities and local councils in Israel vote for the chairman of the local authority (mayor or municipality chairman), as well as for members of the city councils or the local councils.

They cannot vote in national elections. Right wing national politicians have no democratic legitimacy in Israel.

Look, you've told lies, you've been caught out, just accept you're wrong.

Israeli Arabs can and do vote in National elections. There are Arab political parties and Arabs hold seats in the Knesset.

This all started as Netanyahu needed another distraction from his legal issues so he he stoked tensions in Israeli and then that didn't escalate as he liked so he sent his Goons into the mosque and it all kicked off.

Netanyahu needs Hamas as much as they need him. Abbas has suspended elections again - fourth time I believe and the cycle of death continues.

I'd like to see Netanyahu gone, as would a lot of Israeli's. Israeli Arab turnout for national elections tends to be very low, many not voting as a form of protest, which of course helps Netanyahu cling on to power.

To be fair to the Israelis, the tactics they are using are much the same as those used by the British, Americans and Russians in similar situations.
The problem is that in this type of warfare where you have a conventional army, engaged in asymmetric warfare with an opponent who is embedded among a civilian population, then civilian casualties are inevitable.

However this doesn't detract from the fact that the Palestinians are victims of an historic injustice.

You present a glossy picture of a rosy situation. Israeli Palestinian political participation is much more nuanced, much more fractious, much more opaque and very different in reality.

Many Israeli Palestinians are denied a vote in nation elections, as proven by an independent web site that I quoted. They are allowed a vote, but only in local Municipal elections. I appreciate that you quoted a right wing Israeli media site contradicting the independent source. That is hardly surprising that what Israeli government claims differs to the reality on the ground.

Also, many Israeli Palestinians refuse to register to vote, even though they may be eligible because they perceive it as legitimizing the authority of the occupational forces of their land, which they are unwilling to do.

Although you claim there are Palestinian parties and politicians, they are effectively side-lined in Israeli politics. Many left wing Israelis support the Palestinian parties. But the right wing governing party seek to ban some of these parties from being eligible to participate, although they were unsuccessful, it illustrates their intentions.

Many other Israeli Palestinians are aware of the denial of Palestinian parties participation so either do not vote as a protest, or feel that voting is pointless. As you accept, the turnout by Israeli Palestinians is very low, for the above reasons.

Finally, Israel occupies Gaza and the West Bank, and maintains control but denies the population of any participation in Israeli politics. Of the 2 million that are imprisoned in Gaza, many of them are displaced Israeli or West Bank Palestinians. They have no opportunity to participate in Israeli politics.
Israel occupied the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in the Six-Day War of 1967 and has since maintained control.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pales...he West Bank, and has since maintained control.
So in conclusion, while your opinion, and that of a right wing Israeli media source paint a glossy picture of a rosy situation, it does not reflect the reality of Israeli Palestinians, nor that of the Palestinians of the occupied territories.

Gaza and the West Bank are not Israel, why would somebody living there have a right to vote in Israel?

I think the other respondents have presented valid arguments.
Many in Israeli occupied territories have been granted the vote, but refuse to accept it for reasons mentioned earlier, and recognised by you.
Gaza and the West Bank are occupied and controlled by Israel, why are the inhabitants of those areas denied a vote?
What has happened to the Palestinians evicted from their homes in Israel? If they end up in refugee camps in Gaza, how can they participate in elections.

It's patently obvious that Israel has been surreptitiously operating a process of disenfranchising Palestinians, despite their protestations to the contrary.

No, I stated that Israeli Arab turnout for general elections are low in the State of Israel, it's assumed by way of protest. Your original assertion was that the 20% Israeli Arab population of Israel were not allowed to vote, you then obfuscated and said they were only allowed to vote in local elections.

The fact is, Israeli Arabs, living in Israel and holding Israeli citizenship have equal voting rights.
