Lumps of Frost Forming on Both Sides of Pure Wind Fan in Hotpoint Auto-Defrost Fridge Freezer. Help!

There are no gaps or leaks along the door. Ice is forming and expanding in size to the bottom left and bottom right of the fan (which is towards the top of the fridge compartment).

It seems the fridge freezer is cooling all the time as we can hear the compressor and fan running continuously. We've not noticed it defrosting recently, as it usually goes quite during that time. Even when we've not opened the fridge for several hours, e.g. in the morning you can still hear it running.

We have switched off and defrosted the entire unit, but ice has already started building up in the same area again within a day.

how long did you leave the appliance, turned off and with both doors open, for the ice clogging the internal ducts to melt and drip out?

Two days is usually enough, but you have to wait until it is no longer dripping or wet, either inside the cabinets, or into the collection dish round the back (clean out this dish as it is liable to be mouldy).

The visible ice is not the real problem.
