Hi,

I have the above Frost Free fridge freezer and havea small problem.

My understanding of it's operation is that it does a 'defrost cycle' every now and again where the compressor and fans turn off and the evaporator (i think) at the back of the fridge and freezer compartments are slightly heated to cause the frozen water to defrost and then drain off to the top of the compressor where it is then evaporated. Then the compressor and fan come back on and cool the fridge/freezer again.

Now my problem is that it appears that this cycle is running too often. It seems to run about every 2 hours or so. Each time this brings the temperature of the fridge up to about 6 or 8 degrees.

Now I don't know how often this should happen but it does seem to be excessive and wasteful plus the fridge is above 5 degrees quite a lot as a result.

Is there a way to increase the time interval for this cycle or disable altogether and allow me to run it manually every day or so?

Cheers for any help.

Ian.

Thansk for your reply.

I have read the topic you posted but this does seem different to my problem. Mine functions as it should, just too often.

I must disagree with your temperature though....

According to Food hygiene regs the "Danger Zone" is between 5C and 60C and food should be stored outside this range. The recomended tempeature for cold storage (not frozen storage) is below 5C.

Cheers,

Ian.
