Already been helped, but I hope some more questions is ok.
what is the best self levelling compound to use on old dry smooth concrete ?
what is a design strip ?
what is the best adhesive to use (Karndean type tiles)
what tools will I need ?
where is the best value place to buy ?
any other tips very welcome, taverymuchness

1. Arditex smoothing compounds
2. The fake 'grout line' in tile designs and contrasting wood strips to create borders etc.
3. Use Karndean's own to avoid any come-backs if you have issues.
4. Correct rollers and mixing equipment for the levelling and correct trowel for the adhesive laying, Sharp knife blades, straight edge, mitre block....
5. If you buy supply only from an independent retailer, you will find it easier if you have any issues etc.
6. Laying any LVT properly is a highly skilled and very time consuming job. It's expensive to prepare and lay because it's very difficult to do properly.
