turn the hot tap on
put the timer on constant
The lynx 2 ( potterton ? ) is a combi boiler
Unlike a conventional boiler which needs a constantly lit pilot light, a combi has an electronic ignition which will only light the pilot on demand
As kevplumb said, turn on the hot watertap and watch the boilers operation
The clicking sound should be the ignition firing to light the boiler
Plumbers feel free to correct me if I am wrong
