I had a Trafalgar bathroom unit fitted some years ago and it came with a Macdee cable-operated dual flush siphon. There was a problem with the siphon leaking into the bowl a few weeks after installation and the installer eventually (and reluctantly!) came round to have a look. He couldn't understand the reason but fitted a new one and that has worked more or less since.
I saw "more or less" because if I use the full flush button, the leaking problem sometimes returns. So I always use the minimum flush button. If a leak occurs, I've removed the siphon (working blindly because my only access is via the small side panel carrying the push button), removed the seal, washed it and replaced it, as per instructions in the box that the installer left with me.
The leak reappeared yesterday, this time after I used the minimum button! I've had the siphon out half a dozen times and reinstalled it and still no joy! At first it wouldn't flush at all. Now it flushes OK but when the water in the cistern gets to a certain level, the leak into the bowl starts.
So, I CAN use the loo, flush it, then reach into the cistern and turn the water off before usage next time, but this is no way to carry on!
I've not touched the big overflow tube and the two slides on the removable part are only to do with flush volume, the instructions say. So I can't see that I've accidentally done anything wrong. The plunger seemed to be moving freely each time before I reinserted the unit.
Is it obvious from my description what's wrong with the setup? Should I just get a new siphon (presumably not a fortune to buy) or is there any repair I can make?
