I have a macerator that is installed in the crawl space next to the inside bathroom, about 4 feet below. It has a 3 inch inlet and a 2 inch outlet and services a toilet, shower and sink. Bathroom has worked fine for 2 years and now the pump is out and I have no information on the pump. Any ideas what pump I need? It is just like the other pumps, I.e., white box but it doesn't connect to the toilet. Help.

A mascerator has revolving teeth that chew up grind up any solid matter into a paste that can go through the pump without blocking it.

A common fault is the pump isn't used for a while and then the paste dries out into a solid mass that jams up the pump's rotor. Stripping it down and cleaning the rotor may get it back into working order.

Another cause is cloth and other non chewable materials being flushed down the toilet.

UNPLUG the pump before starting to strip it down, chewed fingers in that liquid are a health hazard
