That looks like a similar version of the one we had in our previous house.
If so, I can tell you from experience that after so many years they totally rust through.
We were replacing the pipework for a water softener, which is how we found out how badly they rust (we were very lucky, could have been a major flood).
We were getting a water softener because the inhibitor made little/no difference to water scale.....
