Main bonding installation, Cert or not??

With not many values recorded.

The Extent of installation covered by this Certificate is going to set the scene - you ought to record Supply Characteristics and Earthing Arrangements, as they are relevant, as are Particulars of Installation, particularly the sizes and connection verification of the main bonding, as that's what you're signing on P1 to say you did in accordance with the regs.

The Schedule of Inspections ought to have ticks against Presence of main equipotential bonding conductors and Presence of earthing arrangements... at least.

The Schedule of Test Results is going to have 1 line, and most of the columns will contain N/A...

If only adding MEBs, I'd opt for the same as ebee, use a Minor Works Certificate. Once you have confirmed the R2 is low enough you can put a tick in the box for earth continuity, you can also record the value on the form if you so wish.

Not when it is TN-CS, I wouldn't like to attempt to try to calculate the currents which can flow in a MEB when there is an open circuit CNE on the network.

It's going to depend where you are in relation to the break. It might only be your neutral current, in which case it'll only be what also goes through your service fuse.

It might only be your fault current, in which case it'll only be what also goes through your service fuse.

But a broken CNE is a fault condition, so any currents flowing then are fault currents, not overload currents.

It's looking tricky to see how a bonding conductor does not meet the definition of a circuit....

I can see what you are getting at, tho the guidance issued at our 2391 course did give adding MEBs as an acceptable use for a MWC, as does the NICEIC book on Inspection, Testing and Certification.

The guidelines in the Wiring Regs say no to an MWC for new circuits.

[caveat]It may be different in the 17th[/caveat]

Ok i thought this would raise a few issues of different opinions. If i have completed a PIR and the property fails on absence of mains bonding, when the remedial work is completed i will add a minor works cert to the PIR. Sounds acceptable to me.
