Hello The green light has just started flashing when turning on hot water tap then cuts out to red light. I reset by pressing the red light but it does it again after 20 seconds or so. Any ideas of what the problem may be. I have had the boiler 3 years with no issues. Thank you.

Had the Heater 3 Years no issues AND NO SERVICE either!!!?

You need a proffessional Engineer with WAT1 Certificate to diagnose!!

ALL GAS APPLIANCES SHOUOLD BE SERVICED AND CHECKED FOR SAFETY EVERY TWELVE MONTHS!!!

It don't sound like a dirty inlet filter to me, it sounds like a combustion or control problem You are happy for appliances to be tinkerd with by non-competents are you kev?? :?

Thank you Boilerman for the prompt reply, as you correctly say I need someone qualified to service and look at it. I was just enquiring if anyone had a rough idea of what may be causing the issue so I would have an idea of how serious a problem and what it may cost me to have repaired. It has just happened as I tried to run a bath for my 18month old son. I understand it may not be easy to diagnose with the description given.
Thanks again.

Thank you Kev, I did not for one minute think you were expecting me to do it myself. I am not qualified and would not dream of touching it. There is no harm in having a rough idea of what the problem is though. By the way when I turn the thermostat setting lower the red light does not kick in?
Thank you everyone for your replies they are appreciated.

don't sound can you hear it then

checking the inlet filter is not RGI territory

your sig says a lot ass

You reply was to my comment that to work on a gas fired multipoint, the engineer needs ACS WAT1 I think that this is correct and the ONLY reason that I and tens of thousands of gas Engineers like me hold WAT1

What has that got to do with the inlet filter ??

yes, it should have an annual service, but most don't. your'e being a bit dramatic.

OP, is the heater noisier than normal?

Thank you for your comment too expertgasman, as you say I have had it from new for 3 years and yes I should have had it serviced but as you so rightly say not everyone does as they should. hindsight is a great thing. There are so many contract repiar deals going about etc I just let it slide. I found this forum and read a few replies and thought why not ask? It does no harm to ask the experts and anyone who takes the time to reply to me is much appreciated. It looks like I will have to either call british gas or get a recommendation for someone in the Manchester area.
Thanks again everyone.

Sorry i forgot to reply to noisier question. No it seems the same as it always has been. Fires up the same but after a 10/20 seconds green light starts to flash water gets hot as normal then red light kicks in and it fires down. Resets and does same again. just tried it with lower thermostat setting and it went off again.

OK., that tends to rule out scaling or blocked filter. I'm not especially familiar with this heater, but I would consider o/h stat, if there is one (and probably is).

You will need a RGI, but make sure he is experienced inthis particular line of work. good luck. Let us know of outcome.
