Hi all, I'm looking for advice on a broken turn handle on my mains supply outside my home, this only suppies my home, and was broken whilst trying to turn off the water suppy due to a burst pipe.

The pipe has been repaired, but as the top turning T-bar on top has broken off in the closed position, I have no water supply, Scottish Water is my supplier, but due to all the bursts, they can't give me a date to come and inspect it.

Is there any way I can get this replaced or fixed.

Many thanks

Yes - get a stud extractor that fits on to a socket set  It`s like a serrated snail cam that grips a stud and allows it to be turned by a socket set half inch drive. - someone put up a picture here a day or two ago- that will turn the handle stem

Thanks for the advise, I have searched for a photo on the forum, but no luck finding it yet, the t-bar snapped clean off at the base, so it's only the flush broken end I can see, so you recon if I can drill a pilot hole and screw in a stud extractor, I should be able to turn the sheared part clockwise a quarter turn to turn the water back on.

Pretty tight for space in the toby and the stud is about 1ft 1/2 down, I'll clean it out in the morning and see if it looks possible.

Thanks again

If the turning head has snapped off flush, then no stud extractor in the world is going to touch it.....
I find I've got to usually heave like hell to turn the things anyway - therefore I think it would be a miracle if a screw in extractor would turn it.
Only my opinion but I think some digging down is called for, unfortunately.
John :)
