mains tap damaged

I need to turn my water off but the internal mains tap is old and half of the tap is broken off........i tried turning it with mole grips but the entire thing turns and water seeps out the thread.........how do i find the out door stop cock or do i need to contact the water board

Just a few ideas.

Ask your neighbours where their one is.
Look on the pavement.
Rule of thumb is that they are normal in a straight line from the kitchen sink to the main road.

Hi...i found it on the pavement right out side my drive but its not the old metal stop cock .....instead its white plastic with a long t-piece ...any ideas

Turning the yellow handle (gently) 90 degrees will turn the water off.
