Mains water valve

My mains water valve lets water by when shut off and also rattles
under certain conditions.
I don't want to change the the whole thing as it has a lead pipe
connection to both sides so are just the internal parts replaceable?

A bit more info: the valve has a brass tap type top and is fitted in a 1930's
house.

wouldnt think so

If you're unlucky lead can spring leaks along its length as soon as it's touched.
It's time it was all replaced.
