I am trying to fit a couple of pop-up wastes to a basin. There remains a slight leak emanating from where the horizontal rod enters the back of the waste through the screwed collar. I have set the connector that both the horizontal and vertical rods pass through pretty tightly in order that the plastic ball (on the horizontal rod) presses firmly into the cupped retainer.

Hope this description makes sense. Any advice appreciated.
