I have an old external window facing into my conservatory, which I would like to convert into a doorway by taking the frame out and knocking out the bricks below - Is there a simple way to find out if there is a lintel above the window ?

knock off the plaster above the window and check, your gonna need a plasterer at some point if your having it done, wether theres a lintell or not.
