Hi all

I have to make the opening for a potential new fire smaller. The reason Im going for the fire is that its the only one that fits in the existing hole that we have had empty for years.

I dont want the mess of taking out the lintel for a new larger fire. The less disruption the better!

However I do have to make up the base and sides of the opening. Base is fine - we have about 2inchs to make up so concrete will probably be OK for that - the sides however need to come in about an inch each side

Would sand/cement mix be ok for that / SBR added maybe - not sure

Just wanted to check before we start

Thanks
