What's the problem with seals?

Obviously if you have the hinge next to the area where the shower comes out from then water will be spraying away from the hinge, and if the edge of the tray/step is mostly on the outside of the glass when closed and has an inward fall then no water will get underneath. But don't discount water running down your shoulder, off your elbow and against the hinge area. Or water from a high pressure shower spraying up from the floor.
However tight you get to the wall it will still let water through, and unless your floor is tanked (like a wetroom) then you are asking for trouble for the sake of a few metres of rubber strip.

thanks the reason i didnt want seals is that having made a nice clear clean glass door really didnt want it edged with rubber seal.
cheers jon
