Why is it that clothing manufacturers use such flimsy and delicate materials to make pockets out of? _ I never worked out why clothing makers used inappropriate materials, which often wear out and disintegrate rapidly, in the course of every day use?
It gets irritating when you are often finding out that a hole soon wears its way through your jacket pocket lining, ..and you have to take off and tip the jacket upside down to get your phone back out!

I agree: and it seems the more you pay the flimsier the material

I only put my hands in my pockets.
You know what they say about a man with his hands in his pockets.....

I agree, i believe it to be clever marketing... like the bags of lettuce that always rip through the bag, and not across the join so you can't seal them again, and the same with multibag crisps bags.. rip all over the place. And then there's the red opener thing on a packet of chocolate biscuits... you fancy two chocolate biscuits, yet it opens at about 3 or 4!!! just wrong !

And why do jeans manufactures put that silly little pocket on the right hand side to entice me to put things in it only to have to take the jeans off to get the sodding thing out again

Started out as watch pocket.

another version I did hear was that it was designed for tickets but on some of my jeans the pocket is really small and I can't get two fingers in to retrieve that coin or screwdriver bit I foolishly put in there in the first place.
