Maroon Maisonary Paint looks pinkish

I got some Armstead Maisonary paint from my local Dulux decorator centre. I chose Maroon. It looked a bit pink but I guessed it would change colour when it dried. I put some on and let it dried. Here is the odd thing. On the stick, I used for stirring it looks fine. Even where it is on the stick quite thin but on the maisonary it is quite pink. Any ideas?
