We recently had our lounge reskimmed and then painted it with a mist coat of watered down white emulsion. After meticulously going over all the little imperfections left we did two coats of a light cream colour and then set about painting a feature wall with a deep red.

Realising we needed the best possible join of the cream and red in an internal corner we went to our local Brewers to ask them to recommend how to do it. They recommended Tesa Precision Masking Tape. We had doubts about the tape as we thought it might damage the paint underneath when removed but we were assured this tape would allow us to do what we wanted.

However, after using it disaster struck We painted and then came to remove the tape and got half way down the wall, after which it started to pull off large patches of paint right down to the plaster!!!

Attempts to re-mistcoat and relayer emulsion on top of the damage has just left little patches.

Any suggestions on what could be done? It's been a complete blow and has basically completely ruined a whole room.

if im understanding you correctly ther are little patches where the paint has flaked off?

if so this is easily fixed. go to b&q and buy; some ready mix filler it should come in different grades buy the 'fine' stuff, a cheap 3" filling knife and a cheap 3' scraper. that should cost you about a tenner altogether.

take a bit of the filler out of the pot and put it on your scraper, then take about half that off your scraper and put it on you filling knife. run the filling knife across the patch of paint, this should put a blob of filler over the hole , then clean off your filling knife onto you scraper. now using your clean filling knife run it again across the hole this will take off any excess but still leave the filler inside the patch. then repeat till youve done all the holes.

let it dry and rub it down with some 120grit sandpaper. do this really gently as because its such a shallow hole if you rub too hard it will rub all the filler out. it might help if you take two fresh bits of sand paper and rub them together to make them nearly blunt for this step.

then paint them and if there still noticable fill them again and they should look spot on

hope this is what you wer looking for
