Your crap plan drawer not only does not know what piers are, but he can't even draw and annotate correctly. It's not clear what construction they are, they are drawn as solid, but so is the rest of the wall they are attached to.
Isn't that what SE's describe an item of masonry where a beam lands? All the drawings I have had from SE's always generically denote the beam landing area as a pier - i.e. "pier A"..."pier B" etc.
I disagree. The drawings I have (from various SE's) describe many differing beam landing zones as 'piers' whether they are just sections of a wall, a corner, a nib, etc. They are probably describing the landing area and the masonry below affected by the weight of the beam and generically calling that a 'pier'.
