Matching sirting boards

After having a fire surround removed I will need some replacement skirting board, the only problem is how to match it, and where to get it from.

Short of replacing the whole room, I need to find some 225mm (1930s
?) skirting. Is it very costly to have it made, if not any recommendations in the Newcastle area? Do I have any other options other than find the closest match?

can you no rob a bit from the smallest room/cupboard in the house and replace all that room with ready bought matching skirting if not exacly the same

getting it purpose made will probably be around £10 a meter with a setting up cost of £40

so 1m would be £50 or 10 would be £140

You could try the following:

located at Boldon - I know they keep lots of salvo flooring and timber in stock. Find out what profile your skirting is and ring them, they should be able to tell you if they have any. If it is typical to the type of house you live in, you might be in luck - chances are every house of that design in the region will have been fitted out the same - check your neighbour's to get an idea. If no luck with O'Briens, try sticking a note through the doors in your street - it's amazing how many people are diy-ers, I know I kept all my vintage skirting when renovating and is still in the loft...

Travis Perkins do an excellent matching service, take a piece down and they will run you up a perfectly matched piece.

Thanks for the replys, I've tried looking for a place to take a piece from but unfortunately it is only present in the two reception rooms hence no wardrobes etc.
