So I've just learnt about the hazards of good old MDF. I've just had loads of work done to my house which has involved a lot of MDF - skirting boards, fitted cupboards, architrave. I'm fairly sure a lot of the sawing of the mdf was happening inside the house. I know it is a danger for he workmen cutting it up at the time (they're advised to wear masks etc BUT how much of a danger is it to my family? Apparently the dust is so fine a normal vac will just blow it back out into the air.

I think that this sort of thing has to be kept in perspective......sawing MDF produces fairly large particles by comparison, and its unlikely that the MDF would be machine sanded to any degree.
A vacuum with a hepa filter should collect the dust.
Personally I wouldn't worry too much - you can always go round with a mop if there's anything visible.
