MDF in kitchen

We might want to use MDF as a base for tiles around the kitchen sink. The MDF (nice flat underground) will tiled.

Question, would this work, taking into account the moisture / water used in and around sink.

Even with Moisture Resistant MDF there will be a risk of damage if water gets to the MDF, I would use 25mm marine plywood, you can get non-Lloyds spec which is a bit cheaper than the stuff for building boats.
