MDF thickness

Don't think you can get 2mm MDF & if you could it would be much too flimsy. If you tell me what its for I might be able to make a few suggestions. Have you considered hard board for instance.
 
I am going to flush panel one side of kitchen cabinet doors. Don`t like the prospect of using hardboard, much prefer MDF. At present I have sourced 4mm thick but am trying to lighten the load on the hinges. May not have a problem.
Any suggestions would be welcomed.
