To get a wood effect you have a few choices, veneer one side of the mdf (the side that will be visible) with real wood, this will give the best effect. Veneer with plastic which has a wood print on it or use one of these paint finishes that has a woodgrain effect.

wonderful product available at any B&Q etc... Even i can use it and decorating is not my strong point
