mdpe pipe & compatible sealant

I'm running a new mdpe water pipe accross the garden (to replace old lead pipe) and I need to duct it under a waste pipe. I believe I should seal the ends of the duct pipe, but with what? Does it matter which sealant I use? Are some sealants incompatible wth mdpe?
