Test with a handheld meter first to get an indication (tramex / protimeter) then use boxes. You can use a protimeter hygromaster with sleeves that are inset into holes in the concrete but the only recognised test to BS is the hyrometer box.
If in doubt always apply a liquid DPM, its costly but far cheaper than having to replace the floor.

If the floor is really wet (not sure which method you use, but based on our method: too wet is over 4.5% moist) a liquid DPM won't help.

Update:
Just tested the floor with a damp tester, nothing fancy, just a cheapy but the needle went off the scale.
I am thinking this is going to be too wet for a liquid dpm.
Whats the next step?
Floor up, new dpm, new slab and screed?
