I was just worried. The beam I have currently isn’t real wood, it’s non combustible material that looks like wood! Why? You literally have a massive exposed log sticking out of the wall inches above the fire. Timber stud work enclosed in cement board is not going to spontaneously combust..

Thank you! This is definitely something to consider! If it were me I would think about possibly building a corner media wall where Mr potato head is. You can then lower the TV and it would be a much better position for the whole room and be facing in because at the moment it looks like if you sat on the sofa you need to twist to your left. Also you would get some decent storage under the TV

Imagine the ablove picture built with 3 ikea pax units
Pax wardrobes and use them without the doors and instead just add pax shelves and draws. Have a wide unit for the tv and put it on a shelf on its stand. Use the 35mm depth ones.
Or you could forget the two side ones and just carry the corner all the way across.Thank you! This is definitely something to consider!
Wish we had a chimney breast in the living room already would make this easier … the corner unit might look odd without bringing that wall up? I’ll see if I get get a free design tool online to mock it up!!

Yeah pretty much lol, would have partners PlayStation hidden away tooWell with out dvds - its a just a TV shelf.
The cost of that décor wall will make your eyes water. £720 will seem like a bargain.I wonder how hard it is to do otherwise it’s buying the pre built cabinets from Ikea - would need 4 and they are like £180 each so probs more expensive doing it that way than from scratch!

(Doesn't have to be your partner; you clearly have the vision, the practical aspects aren't so difficult they will defeat your passion here)my partner isn’t a carpenter
Creating a fake one of those is about the easiest part of the job. I wouldn't move the fire thoughWish we had a chimney breast in the living room already would make this easier
