Hi we have just installed a megaflo he systemfit, but have a poor return flow on the CH side. We have been advised that this is slude in the system and have been given Sentinel X400 to put in to remove sludge, only thing is we don't know how to get it in without draining the tank.

Our plumber didn't flush the system before hooking iot all up.

Can any one advise?

Has this always been a problem or only since the installation of the Megaflo? If it's only since the installation it's probably an airlock and the X400 is unnecessary. If it's always been a problem or you want to add the X400 anyway, you can either shut off a radiator, drain that down, remove the top blanking plug and use a funnel and a hosepipe to pour the X400 into it, or if you have a loft tank for your heating you can shut that off, drain out a few bucketfuls of water, pour the X400 into the tank then turn the tank back on again.

It's not standard practise to flush the heating system when installing an unvented cylinder.

I think this is a Megaflow BOILER !

Any competent installer will powerflush or clean the system BEFORE he fits a new boiler as required by BS7593 1992.

If he did not do such a basic task then there may have been other aspects that he has messed up with.

I would advise you to ask gas Safe to come and inspect the new boiler. They are on 0800 408 5500.

Tony

Could be Tony although the OP did say Megaflo HE Systemfit, and the Systemfit is the pre-plumbed version of a Megaflo UV Cylinder, unless there's a Megaflow Systemfit boiler too?

You may well be right that its a cylinder.

But I thought the reference to CH flow and to flushing the system indicated it was a boiler.

I do hope that he was not thinking of putting X400 into a Megaflow cylinder!

jodithomson - note that Gas Safe won't be interested in whether he flushed it or not, they only bother about gas safety.

ChrisR,

I think what Tony meant was, if the installer did'nt do something a standard as flushing the system first, what might they not have done with regards any gas work.

Either way it seems rather academic as the OP appears to have lost interest
