Hi, my 2kw wall heater (maybe 2 yrs old) stopped working and I noticed the switch wasn’t switching. I opened it up and found the wire had melted completely.(I saw a crack on the front of the switch before but it looked ok inside at that point)
The heater still seems to work so I just replaced the switch.
Could it be the heater that caused it hence could it happen again , or was it just the switch ?

Loose connection caused overheating.

The wires will also have been overheated, so any damaged sections should have been cut away before installing the new switch. If not, the same problem will occur again.
